OUR STORY

Same neighborhood.
Different journeys.
Shared wisdom.

Lisa and Nanette grew up in the same neighborhood and attended the same schools, but life took them along different paths. Through it all, many of the same experiences found them.

Life After… is a welcoming space for women navigating divorce, retirement, parenting, caregiving, relationships, personal growth, and the beautiful uncertainty of beginning again.

DEVOTIONAL FOR THE JOURNEY

OCTOBER 19–25, 2026

You Still Have Something to Give

Your season has changed. Your gifts still matter.

“God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.”— 1 Peter 4:10, NLT
Life After with Lisa and Nanette, October 19–25: You Still Have Something to Give. Daily encouragements: notice, honor, offer, receive, create, connect, and celebrate.

Sometimes the hardest part of life after a major change is figuring out where you fit.

The job ends. The children need you differently. A relationship changes. Caregiving reshapes your days. You may find yourself wondering, What do I bring to the table now?

God’s gifts do not disappear when your circumstances change.

The ability to encourage someone, bring order to confusion, create something beautiful, listen without judging, or make another person feel welcome still matters. A different season may give those gifts a different expression.

Perhaps you once led meetings, and now your wisdom helps someone prepare for an interview. Perhaps your home feels quieter, but your invitation gives someone a place to belong. Perhaps you are still healing, yet your honest words help another woman feel less alone.

You do not have to return to your old life to make a meaningful contribution in this one.

First Peter reminds us that our gifts are entrusted to us for one another. That means we also get to receive. You are allowed to be the person who needs a listening ear, a meal, a prayer, or encouragement. Your place in the community includes being loved.

This week, ask God to help you notice what remains alive within you. A little curiosity. A creative idea. Compassion. The desire to connect. Give it a little room.

Your worth is already secure in God’s love. Let whatever you offer grow from that assurance.

Carry the Message Through Your Week

Share one manageable act of kindness without stretching yourself too thin.

Thu., Oct. 22 — Receive

Let someone support you. Make one honest, specific request.

Spend a few minutes enjoying an idea without requiring it to become a business or obligation.

Sat., Oct. 24 — Connect

Thank God for one moment when you felt useful, connected, or renewed.

Closing Prayer

Father, help me see the gifts I have stopped noticing. When familiar roles change, remind me that I still belong and have something meaningful to offer. Show me where my wisdom, kindness, and creativity can bring encouragement. Give me freedom to receive care, too. Guide me toward service that fits this season, and help me recognize joy in the small moments. Thank You for loving me before I accomplish anything today. In Jesus’ name, amen.

This week’s reminder

There is Life After—and there is still good you can bring into it.
