DEVOTIONALS FOR THE JOURNEY

Devotionals

Faith-filled encouragement for life’s changes, quiet seasons, and new beginnings.

OCTOBER 12–16, 2026

Grace for the Next Step

You don’t need every answer to take one faithful step.

“For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun!”— Isaiah 43:19, NLT (excerpt)
Grace for the Next Step: October 12–16. Release, rest, receive, move, and remember. I am held by God. I can begin again.

There are seasons when we know life is changing, but we cannot yet see what comes next. The familiar has shifted. Our hearts are tired. We want direction, reassurance, and perhaps a little proof that we will be okay.

God meets us in that space.

You do not have to hide your sadness to have faith. You can miss what was and remain open to what God is doing. Healing, rest, and new beginnings often unfold through small choices: an honest prayer, a needed pause, a request for help, or the courage to try again.

This week, give yourself permission to move gently. You are not required to solve your entire future today. Ask God for wisdom for the step in front of you.

There is LIFE AFTER the disappointment, the loss, the transition, and the plan that changed. Your story still holds room for hope.

Grace for What Comes Next

“For I am about to do something new.”— Isaiah 43:19 NLT (excerpt)
Life After devotional: Grace for What Comes Next

As September comes to a close, you may be looking back at a month that asked more of you than you expected. Some prayers were answered. Some questions remain. And some days, making it through was the most honest victory you could claim. Let yourself acknowledge that without minimizing what it took.

In Isaiah 43, God speaks hope to His people in the midst of a difficult story. He promises to make a way in the wilderness. That promise invites us to watch for His work even where life feels barren. It does not mean every transition will be easy or every loss will suddenly make sense. It reminds us that difficult ground is still a place where God can meet us.

There is life after the role that changed, the relationship that ended, the goodbye you never wanted, or the plan that did not unfold. Moving forward does not require you to erase what mattered. You can honor yesterday and still make room for tomorrow. You can carry love with you without carrying every burden into the next season.

Today, release one expectation you cannot control. Notice one small sign of grace: a conversation, a moment of rest, the courage to ask for help. Then take one faithful step. You do not have to arrive in October with everything resolved. You can enter with an honest heart, a little hope, and trust that God will meet you there.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for carrying me through this month. Help me release what I cannot control and recognize Your presence in what comes next. Give me courage to take the next step, tenderness toward the parts of me still healing, and hope for the season ahead. Amen.

Reflection for today

What can I release as this month ends, and what is one faithful step I can take into the next season?

Grace for the Unfinished Chapter

“God will continue the good work he began in you.”— Philippians 1:6 NLT (paraphrase)
Life After devotional: Grace for the Unfinished Chapter

There is life after the chapter you thought would be your whole story. But sometimes the new chapter is still being written, and the unfinished parts can make you wonder whether you are moving forward at all.

Philippians reminds us that God continues the work he began. Your healing may be gradual. Your courage may arrive one small decision at a time. Even when you cannot see the whole picture, the work in you is still unfolding.

Today, give yourself permission to be in progress. You do not have to rush to a polished ending or explain every turn in the road. Take the next faithful step and trust that God is present in this page too. Your story is not over, and you are not behind.

Reflection for today

What unfinished part of your story can you place in God’s hands today?

Grace for the In-Between

“The Lord says, ‘I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.’”— Psalm 32:8 NLT
Life After devotional: Grace for the In-Between

There are seasons when you are no longer where you were, but you cannot yet see where you are going. The old chapter has closed, the new one has not fully opened, and the space between the two can feel uncertain.

But the in-between is not an empty place. God is there. He is guiding steps you cannot yet trace, preparing answers you cannot yet see, and watching over you while the next part of your story takes shape.

You do not have to force clarity or rush the process. Let today be enough. Take the next faithful step, trust God with what remains unknown, and remember: His guidance is not limited by your uncertainty. Even here, you are being led with grace.

Reflection for today

Where can you release the pressure to have everything figured out and trust God’s guidance today?

Grace for the Next Chapter

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”— Jeremiah 29:11 KJV
Life After devotional: Grace for the Next Chapter

Life after change can feel like standing between chapters. What was familiar has ended, but what comes next has not fully taken shape. In that in-between place, it is easy to wonder whether God still has a plan for you.

He does. God is not confused by your transition, intimidated by your uncertainty, or limited by what you cannot yet see. The same God who carried you through the last chapter is already present in the next one. His thoughts toward you are filled with peace, purpose, and hope.

You do not need the whole story today. Ask for grace for this page, courage for this step, and faith for this moment. Your life is still unfolding, and God is still writing something beautiful.

Reflection for today

What part of your next chapter do you need to place back into God’s hands?

The Courage to Begin Again

“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth…”— Isaiah 43:19 KJV

Starting over does not mean your story failed. It means God is still writing. The chapter behind you may hold loss, change, or questions you cannot yet answer—but it does not get the final word.

New beginnings rarely arrive with every detail in place. Sometimes they begin with one brave yes, one honest prayer, or one small step toward the life God is revealing. You do not have to see the whole road to trust the One who walks it with you.

Reflection for today

What new thing might be quietly springing up in your life? Give yourself permission to notice it.
